“Do you know Jesus?” is the first thing that popped out of my mouth when confronted with my attacker on a winter day in 1987. For just a moment, I stopped struggling to keep him out of my car, looked him straight in the eyes, and said “Do you know Jesus?”
Where did that come from? Why would I think to say that? He looked as shocked as I did, and probably wondered why he chose to attack this “crazy” lady.
I was 27 at the time, married and teaching in a middle school. And I was his latest victim of assault and rape.
That simple question allowed me to look him in the face, the only glimpse I had, and later identify him in a line-up. Not only was he arrested for my rape, but he was charged with the rape of four other women in the area! With the evidence from my case, this man was put behind bars and could not terrorize more women or continue to threaten those he had already violated.
With that simple question, “Do You Know Jesus?” and saying His name out loud, Jesus came and walked through the attack with me. Jesus gave me peace in the midst of the unthinkable, and kept me from lasting physical harm.
I have emotional scars that will always be a part of me, but I am not in bondage to fear because Jesus has healed me.
If Jesus could do that for me, couldn’t He do it for you? In the midst of your struggles, pain, anxiety, hopelessness, addiction, depression or whatever keeps you in bondage, He is waiting.
The BEST good news I can offer you today is Jesus! Do you know my Jesus?
Maybe you know OF Jesus.
You have knowledge of Him.
You know he lived, according to the Bible and other historical records, over 2000 years ago.
You know he taught people how to love, how to honor God, how to show mercy and compassion.
You know He called out the religious leaders for their hypocrisy.
You know He healed many people physically and emotionally, according to accounts by his own followers.
You know He claimed to be the Son of God, the Messiah come to save the the world from their sin.
You know he suffered a criminal’s death on a cross.
You know He predicted his own resurrection from the dead and three days after being laid in a tomb, his dead body disappeared, and eye witnesses reported seeing Him alive again.
So, you know OF Him. But do you truly KNOW Him? Like you know your best friend. Or your spouse.
Have you declared your belief that He is the Christ, the Son of God, and accepted His gift of eternal life?
He lived and sacrificed His life to save you from a certain eternal death and separation from God. “For God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17.
And He wants relationship with you. He wants to be intimately known by you.
This is what Jesus said about himself and how He wants to be known by you:
“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but through me.” John 14:6.
“I am the Good Shepherd, who lays down his life for his sheep.” John 10:11.
“I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35.
“I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.
And so much more! This is just the tip of the iceberg!!
I pray that you not only know OF Jesus today, but that you personally know Him as your Savior, Shepherd, Bread of Life, Light in a dark world, the only Way, and THE TRUTH you can totally depend on!
If you don’t intimately know Him, He is waiting right beside you. Just say His name. Jesus. Proclaim your belief today and get to KNOW Him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today I speak Jesus over my dear readers. May they come to truly know Him, your Son, and accept all He has to offer today. Use these words to bring them to new life in Jesus, and to give them new hope for their future.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

This post is so transparent and shows how vulnerable you are and willing to be obedient in what God is calling you to share.. It will make a difference for many women. So many times we are afraid to share things in our past due to fear, embarrassment, suppression but when God speaks.with us to share He will do something good with it.
Thanking God for you and praising God for using your story to encourage others. 💗 Deeann
